    Two books to be re-issued

    Good news from one of my publishers today: my old classic 'Britain's Canals' is going to be re-issued (updated and generally refreshed) next year, and at the same time the hardy favourite 'You Can't Wear Out An Indian Scout' is going to have the same treatment and issued in a new format.

    Amateur Professionals

    We’ve just sold and bought a house.  There have been times over the past few months when we didn’t think we’d ever be able to say that.  There have also been times during that time when we’d have cheerfully screamed if one more person had told me that buying and selling a house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things you can do.  Why?  Because, like so many clichés, it’s so painfully true.

    A Mother of a Mess

    As the election campaign plods along its weary path towards an almost certain conclusion of uncertainty, it becomes more and more clear each day that our political system is stuck in some kind of time warp, unable to accept that the world has moved on.  It’s as if we are still living in the middle of the twentieth century, not the second decade of its successor.  Dammit, we still vote with pencils secured to a plywood booth with a piece of string!
